Each year, thousands of families receive support through programs that provide essential needs such as food, clothing, shelter, and employment opportunities.
The Chautauqua County Rural Ministry was created in the early 1950’s to meet unmet needs in the community. Each program was created with serious consideration of already existing programs.
For over five decades, the Rural Ministry has provided the basic needs of food, clothing and shelter to the less fortunate and those in crisis situations. These community members could be your neighbor, your relative, or your friend. The Rural Ministry offers many programs and services, including Supervised Visitation/Parenting Time. This is a program in partnership with Chautauqua County, created to have parents and children who are in foster care meet in a safe and appropriate environment, with the goal of strengthening familial bonds. We also offer food demonstrations and workshops within our program to inform people of healthier ways to eat, and also use a product they may not know how to use. You can learn more about all of our programs throughout the website, or contacting a representative of the Rural Ministry.
In addition to our wonderful programs, we also offer The Furniture Gallery and The Book Store. We sell low-priced items, including clothing and books. All the proceeds we collect go towards our programs to help benefit the people of Chautauqua County.
The Rural Ministry is your agency reaching to those in Chautauqua County who need a hand up, not a handout. Who are these people? They are your neighbors. Some have lost jobs in company reductions, some face personal crisis, some have come to help us harvest our crops and find no work, some are subjects of abuse, neglect, government reductions or deteriorating health.
